Pioneer Days

Residents got to revisit a simpler time at Standing Stone Care & Rehab’s recent community event, “Pioneer Days.”  The residents, their families, and citizens of Monterey got to enjoy the musical talents and gospel singing performances of Mrs. Michelle Looper, The Short Sisters, The Phillips Family, and the lovely Mrs. Rebecca Phillips.  There was something for everyone to enjoy as the days festivities also included a pie contest, quilt contest, and butter churning while the kids enjoyed indian face painting and bobbing for apples.  We were all amazed by the beautiful quilt and delicious canning entries which were judged by our residents who carefully selected the prize winners. Even better were the hand-made crafts the residents sold at their “Kountry Krafts” booth which included; soaps, candles, and fabric wreaths.  We would like to thank Rocky Pops BBQ in Monterey for donating all the delicious BBQ and Mr. Staggs for offering mule and wagon rides. Please be sure to mark your calendars and join us again next year for this special event.
